If the method succeeds, the return value is D3D_OK. If the method fails, the return value can be D3DERR_INVALIDCALL.
If ID3DXMesh::Optimize has been called, the mesh will also have an attribute table that can be accessed using the ID3DXBaseMesh::GetAttributeTable method.
