Plane.DotNormal Method

Language:

Computes the dot product of a plane and a 3-D vector. The w parameter of the vector is assumed to be 0.

Definition

Visual Basic Public Shared Function DotNormal( _
    ByVal p As Plane, _
    ByVal v As Vector3 _
) As Single
C# public static float DotNormal(
    Plane p,
    Vector3 v
);
C++ public:
static float DotNormal(
    Plane p,
    Vector3 v
);
JScript public static function DotNormal(
    p : Plane,
    v : Vector3
) : float;

Parameters

p Microsoft.DirectX.Plane
Source Plane structure.
v Microsoft.DirectX.Vector3
Source Vector3 structure.

Return Value

System.Single
A Single Leave Site value that represents the dot product of the plane and the 3-D vector.

Remarks

Given a plane (a, b, c, d) and a 3-D vector (x, y, z), this method's return value is a*x + b*y + c*z + d*0. The DotNormal method is useful for calculating the angle between the normal of the plane and another normal.
