This section is a practical guide to incorporating music components into a DirectMusic application. It is presumed that you have a basic understanding of the purpose of each component and how it is represented by an object. If not, you may first want to read Composition Objects and Interfaces and Overview of Music Authoring.
Remember that you can incorporate DirectMusic into your applications without necessarily working with individual components such as styles, chordmaps, and templates. If you prefer, you can work with fully authored segments or even with MIDI files. Using individual components simply gives you greater control over the performance at run time.
