DirectX Caps Viewer

Description

The Microsoft® DirectX® Caps Viewer tool shows information for the following components of DirectX.

• Microsoft® DirectMusic® capabilities (for DirectMusic ports).
• Microsoft® DirectInput® devices and their capabilities.
• Microsoft® DirectPlay® connections (server provider information).
• Microsoft® DirectSound® capture devices and capabilities.
• Microsoft® Direct3D® devices and capabilities.

The DirectX Caps Viewer screen shot below shows the general Microsoft® DirectDraw® capabilites of the primary display adapter.

Devlopers should use this tool to verify the capabilites of their development and test machines to make sure that DirectX applications correctly test for current machine capabilities and react accordingly. It is suggested that applications be designed with fallback strategies if the required features are not available.
