A component is a substream within a program. Analog television contains video, audio, closed caption, and digital data streams. Digital television can have multiple video and audio streams.
A policy can block access to some components while allowing others. To do so, it places a denial on the component itself, rather than the request. For example, a program might contain two video streams, one with adult content and one without. A parental policy could block the first stream but allow the second.
