Features of the Guide Store
This topic applies to Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional only.
The Guide Store has the following features:
- Stores program information including broadcast times, channels, and program names.
- Stores tune request objects. These objects can be retrieved by a client application, which can then submit them to the network provider in the filter graph.
- Stores network provider information, called a service.
- Stores metaproperty values. These can be used to identify programs of a specific kind, such as westerns, or programs in a specific language, such as Spanish.
- Manages objects through collections.
- Supports Guide Store loaders. All information in the repository should be tagged with an identifier of the Guide Store Loader that provided the information. This allows multiple Guide Store loaders to store the same information.
- Implements an extensible hierarchy using an API that permits creation of new object types. A Guide Store Loader can add its own object types for use by a client application.
- Supports events. Client applications can receive an event notification when information in the Guide Store changes.
- Supports multiple languages.
