IService::get_ID

This topic applies to Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional only.

The get_ID method retrieves the unique identifier for this Service object.

Syntax

HRESULT get_ID(
  long*  pVal
);

Parameters

pVal

[out]  Address of a variable to receive the identifier.

Return Values

The method returns an HRESULT. Possible values include, but are not limited to, those in the following table.

Return code Description
S_OK The method succeeded.
E_POINTER Data cannot be read from or written to a supplied address.
