The standard-mode display grabber is a binary-image file consisting of a set of functions that provide display-dependent services. Windows loads a grabber whenever the user runs a non-Windows application. The 286grabber setting in the [Boot] section of the SYSTEM.INI file specifies which standard-mode grabber to load.
Windows calls grabber functions to set the display mode and to retrieve information Windows needs to save and restore the video context for non-Windows applications. When the user switches away or back to an application, Windows calls other grabber functions to save or restore the video context for that application.
A display grabber has the following components:
Standard functions
Extended functions
Standard and extended-function dispatch tables
