You add a VERSIONINFO resource to your device driver's executable file or files to help Windows Setup or Control Panel distinguish your files from other files with the same name (particularly previous versions of your driver). Windows Setup uses the resource to determine whether it should install your files if files having the same name already exist on the user's hard drive.
