Summary:

PROBLEM ID: QCW9109007

SYMPTOMS

The QuickCase:W prototyper that ships with Microsoft QuickC for

Windows (QC/Win) version 1.0 will destroy the contents of any file

it attempts to load that is not a valid prototype file originally

generated by QuickCase:W. If the user tries to load any file with a

.WIN extension that was not originally created by QuickCase:W, the

following error message is generated and the file will be

subsequently overwritten:

inconsistent address in dbllock()

Return code 587

RESOLUTION

The best workaround for this problem is to take extreme care that

no file with a .WIN extension is loaded into the prototyper, unless

that file was originally generated by QuickCase:W.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in QuickC for Windows

(QuickCase:W) version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will

post new information here as it becomes available.

More Information:

QuickCase:W always generates prototype files with a .WIN extension. It

will generate an error message if the user attempts to load any file

into the prototyper that does not have a .WIN extension, and will not

permit that file to be loaded.
