SYMPTOMS
It is not possible to change the default paper size and print
quality using the DM_MODIFY flag of the ExtDeviceMode function with
versions 3.4 and 3.61 of the Windows Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet
III driver (HPPCL5A).
RESOLUTION
Specify the DM_PROMPT mode in the call to ExtDeviceMode (for
example, set wMode to the value DM_COPY | DM_MODIFY | DM_PROMPT).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 3.4 and
3.61 of the HP LaserJet III driver distributed with Windows 3.0. We
are researching this problem and will post more information here as
it becomes available.
