Summary:
Problem ID: PRSQL9108007
SYMPTOM
When trying to add a new user login ID through the Admin menu in
SAF, the following error results:
Memory request failed because more than 64 pages are required to
run the query in its present form. The query should be broken up
into shorter queries if possible." (Msg 703, Level 17, state 2).
CAUSE
When attempting to add a new login ID through the Admin menu in
SAF, SQL Server first checks to see what, if any, user logins have
been set up in LAN Manager. If there are user logins set up in LAN
Manager, SAF will display those in the Add Login ID screen.
This error occurs when running SQL Server on a LAN Manager network
configured as User Level Security, and more than 164 user logins
exist for LAN Manager. SAF incorrectly fetches and displays the
list of login IDs to choose from.
WORKAROUND
After receiving the error, pressing ENTER will remove the error
from the screen, and a new user login ID can then be added.
However, none of the existing LAN Manager login IDs will be
displayed in the login ID box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version
1.1. We are currently researching this problem and will post new
information here as it becomes available.
