SYMPTOMS

When issuing a DISK INIT from within a stored procedure, a GP-Fault

will occur.

CAUSE

SQL Server does not correctly handle this situation when three of

the DISK INIT parameters (that is, name, physname, and size) are

passed into the stored procedure as variables and the fourth

parameter, vdevno, is a local variable within the stored procedure.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version

1.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information

here as it becomes available.
