Summary:
The "Microsoft Windows Software Development Kit Tools" manual, version
3.0, describes the most common commands and functions in Microsoft
CodeView for Windows (CVW). However, many CVW functions and commands
are not documented in the Windows SDK Tools manual. Most of these
functions are also available in the MS-DOS and OS/2 versions of the
CodeView debugger.
Three additional sources provide complete documentation on the
CodeView debugger:
- The online help in CVW describes all supported functions and
commands.
- Versions 5.1 and 6.0 of the Microsoft Macro Assembler (MASM)
product include CodeView documentation. In MASM version 5.1, refer
to the "Microsoft CodeView and Utilities: Software Development
Tools for the MS-DOS Operating System" manual; in MASM version 6.0,
refer to Chapter 15 of the "Microsoft Macro Assembler Programmer's
Guide."
- Microsoft C Compiler version 5.1 documentation includes the
"Microsoft CodeView and Utilities: Software Development Tools for
the MS-DOS Operating System" manual.
Note: The CodeView documentation included with MASM and the C Compiler
are specific to the MS-DOS and OS/2 versions of CodeView. Some
commands, for example, those dealing with screen swapping and
multithreaded applications, are not available in CodeView for Windows.
