SYMPTOMS
Upon selecting Help in Microsoft QuickC for Windows (QC/Win)
version 1.0, the following message is displayed:
This version of Help File not supported.
CAUSE
QC/Win version 1.0 contains version 3.07 of the Microsoft Windows
Help engine. This new version can read the older help files from
Windows 3.0. However, version 3.0 of the Windows Help engine cannot
read the help files with the newer format included in QC/Win
version 1.0.
If Windows 3.0 is reinstalled after QC/Win, the old version of
Windows Help is copied to the Windows directory, overwriting the
newer version.
Note: The version of the help engine can be determined by choosing
About Help from the Help menu of the Windows Help window. Help 3.0
is also very distinctive, with a large-button toolbar that has a
footprint and a magnifying glass bitmap.
RESOLUTION
Reinstall the online help files for QC/Win.
