Assembling from a Different Directory Produces Errors

Problem:

When the assembler on Drive C: is called to assemble source code on

Drives A: or B:, the assembler generates errors where there should be

none. The following command line example produces various errors:

C\> masm a:prog.asm

Response:

The program assembles correctly when a backslash (\) is entered after

the drive name to specify the root directory, as in the following

example:

a:\prog.asm

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Version 5.00. This

problem was corrected in MASM Version 5.00a.
