Summary:
Microsoft has confirmed that the following problem occurs in OS/2 LAN
Manager versions 1.01 and 2.00. We are researching this problem and
will post new information here as it becomes available.
Power cycling an HP LaserJet printer while jobs are in the print queue
may result in the printer staying in the "02 Warming Up" state and not
printing anything out. The printer will remain in this state until one
of the following is done to the computer attached to the HP LaserJet
printer (print server):
1. Unplug the printer cable. The printer will go to the "Ready" state,
at which point the cable can be plugged back in. All "offline" jobs
will have to be restarted on the print server.
2. Delete all the jobs in the print queue, and reboot the print
server.
More Information:
When starting up the print server, its printer driver will bring pin
#1 (STROBE signal, straight through connection on the printer cable)
on the parallel port from a low voltage level to a high voltage level.
In order to properly finish its initialization routines, the HP
LaserJet needs to have a low voltage level on pin #1. If a stable high
voltage level is present on that pin, the message "02 Warming Up" is
displayed. This message will continue to be displayed until a low
level voltage on pin #1 is present. Therefore, if an HP LaserJet is
turned off and on while attached to a print server already running,
the HP LaserJet will stay in the "02 Warming Up" state, and will not
print anything out.
