Summary:

PROBLEM ID: CV9111001

SYMPTOMS

When using the Microsoft CodeView Debugger versions 3.0, 3.1, 3.11,

and 3.14, highlighting more than a screen of text with the mouse

may stop the window text from scrolling, and therefore not allow

any more highlighting to take place.

After scrolling a few lines past the bottom of a window, the

scrolling may stop, and no further highlighting can take place.

RESOLUTION

To work around the problem, use the keyboard to highlight the text

by using SHIFT+PAGE DOWN or SHIFT+PAGE UP.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft CodeView

versions 3.0, 3.1, 3.11, and 3.14. We are researching this problem

and will post new information here as it becomes available.

More Information:

To re-create the problem, enter CodeView with a large executable so

that the corresponding source file will be loaded into the source

window. Place the mouse cursor anywhere in that window, click the left

mouse button, and hold it down.

While holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse cursor to the

bottom of the screen so that the text in the window begins to scroll.

Hold the mouse in that position; the screen will soon stop scrolling

and any subsequent mouse movement will have no affect on the

highlighted area.

This is actually a feature in CodeView to allow printing of the

selected text. The edit features are highlighted only when one line

(portion) of code is highlighted.
