This workbook explains how to use the functions, messages, and data structures of the Multimedia extensions. Other MDK documentation describes additional aspects of multimedia software development. The MDK includes the following manuals:
The Getting Started guide is intended for both multimedia application programmers and multimedia authors. It describes the MDK and other software required to develop multimedia applications. It also explains how to install the MDK software.
The Programmer's Reference is a definitive summary of the application programming interface (API) for the Multimedia extensions. It describes the functions, messages, data structures, file formats, and commands within the extensions. You can use the Setup program to install an online version of the Programmer's Reference.
The Data Preparation Tools User's Guide describes the data-preparation tools provided with the MDK. These tools allow authors to edit media elements, such as bitmaps and waveforms, and to convert data files.
The Multimedia Authoring Guide describes the authoring process for multimedia titles. It describes how to acquire and prepare data for multimedia titles.
The Multimedia Viewer Developer's Guide describes how to build titles for the Multimedia Viewer software.
Unless otherwise noted, the manuals cross-referenced in this workbook are those included in the MDK.
