Quality images add tremendous value to a multimedia title. You can increase this value, however, by making these images move. The Multimedia Development Kit provides the Multimedia Movie Player (known simply as the Movie Player) which plays animation files created with MacroMind Director. MacroMind Director is a multimedia authoring tool that runs on the Macintosh.
You can create animations (also referred to as movie files) using MacroMind Director and then convert them to Microsoft's Movie Player format. The MDK provides the Movie Convertor, a Macintosh-based file conversion utility, for this purpose.
This chapter discusses general authoring guidelines for creating animation files for the Multimedia Movie Player. The material assumes you already know how to author Director animations or are at least familiar with its terminology. This chapter also contains technical information about the programming functions associated with the Movie Player—for more information, see the MDK's Programmer's Workbook and Programmer's Reference.
Note:
The Movie Player is the only animation player included with the Microsoft Multimedia Development Kit. However, other animation-tool vendors provide Windows-based animation players as well.
