Viewer is a program that allows users to view online documents (called titles) in the MicrosoftÒ WindowsÔ graphical environment. Viewer titles can present online information using the following elements:
Text, with multiple fonts, type sizes, and colors
Pictures (using up to 256 colors), audio segments, and animation sequences
Cross-reference jumps for moving quickly between related topics
Full-text search capability a user can use to find specific words and phrases
Viewer provides a practical way to combine different types of information into an inexpensive format for distribution and easy access. You can store Viewer titles on either magnetic-storage (hard disk) or optical-storage (CD-ROM) media.
Viewer can be used in the following situations:
A publisher might use Viewer to create stand-alone online titles. Existing books could be translated into Viewer format, or entirely new works created using the interactive and multimedia software capabilities.
A software developer might use Viewer to supplement or replace printed product documentation.
A corporation might use Viewer to replace printed manuals or as a way to translate hard-to-access information into electronic format.
