How Setup Appears to the User

When the user first runs Setup for a title, a screen similar to the following one appears:

Usually, the upper portion of a Setup screen displays information for the user or offers options that the user must select or fill in. The lower portion of the screen contains instructions for the user. The user can exit Setup at any time by clicking the button in the lower-right corner of the screen, or by pressing F3.

Setup requests the directory where the user wants to install Viewer using a screen similar to the following:

Setup supplies the default path “C:\VIEWER” if Viewer has not been installed before (either for this title or for another title). If Viewer is already installed, Setup offers the path in which Viewer is installed as the default.

If the Setup program contains other options the user must select before installation, it displays them and asks for input at this point. Then it asks the user whether or not to proceed with the installation procedure. Choosing No tells Setup to proceed. Choosing Yes takes the user back through the sequence. The following screen shows these choices:

While Setup is copying files, it displays a progress bar, as shown in the following illustration:

Setup asks the user if it can modify the user's AUTOEXEC.BAT file, placing Viewer in the user's path. Setup uses a dialog box similar to the following:

When Setup has finished copying all the Viewer and title files, it displays a message similar to the following:
