Inserting Jumps

Jumps allow you to move instantly from one topic to another in a title. To insert
a jump, you must first type the hot spot text—that is, the text you click to make
the jump. Then you must identify where you're jumping.

·To insert a jump:

1.In Topic 1, enter the following text immediately below “Topic 1”:

Jump to topic 2

2.Select the text you just typed in step 1.

3.From the Format menu, choose Character and select the Double Underline check box, then choose OK.

This makes the text “Jump to topic 2” your hot spot text.

4.Now type the following text immediately after “Jump to topic 2”:

Topic2

5.Select the text you typed in step 4 (be sure you don't select the paragraph mark at the end of the line).

6.From the Format menu, choose Character and select the Hidden check box and clear the Double Underline check box, then choose OK.

Your Word screen should look like this:

After you remove the selection, the hidden text should appear as shown in the illustration on the next page. Formatting this text as hidden makes “Topic2” the context string of the topic you're jumping to.
