Inserting the Topic Title

You next enter a title for the topic. Viewer displays the topic title you enter whenever it refers to the topic. For example, it displays topic titles in the dialog box for the Index button and in the Topics Found list for the Search button. Users double-click the titles to jump directly to those topics. Viewer also uses topic titles to identify topics marked from the Bookmark menu. Use a dollar sign ($) footnote to tag the topic title.

·To insert a topic title:

1.Place the cursor at the beginning of the topic text.

2.From the Insert menu, choose Footnote. Enter the dollar sign ($) as the footnote reference mark.

A superscript dollar sign ( $ ) appears next to the heading and the cursor moves to the footnote window.

3.Type the topic title as the dollar sign footnote.

Make sure only one space exists between the dollar sign and the first word of the title. For example, you might type the following title for the “Kentucky: Economy” topic:

$Kentucky: Economy

This would appear as follows:

Note that you can put spaces between words in the topic title.

4.Click in the text window to return to the topic text.
