Full-Text Search

Along with the keyword search, Viewer offers a full-text search capability you can use to find any text phrase or combination of text phrases in a title.

·To start a search:

1.Choose the Search button in the main Viewer window.

The Search dialog box appears.

2.Enter the text you want to search for (known as a search query) in the Search For edit box.

This edit box is also a list box that you can open by clicking the down arrow
to the right of the edit box. This list box contains your ten most recent queries. You can select an entry from this list, or you can type a new query.

3.Select the Look At options you want.

The Look At option lets you choose whether to search through all the text within the topics or to search the topic headings only. Topic headings are specially coded headings that do not scroll with the rest of the topic text.

4.Select the Look In check boxes you want.

The Look In check boxes control the books in which you search for text.

5.After entering the query and specifying the Look At and Look In options, choose the Search button to perform the search.

Note:

The Search dialog box contains one additional button. The Hints button provides a quick reference to the operators used in search queries and allows you to redefine the value of NEAR in search queries. For more information, see “Getting a Quick Reference to Operators,” later in this chapter.
