Creating Multi-Book Titles

In Chapter 6, “Advanced Authoring Techniques,” you learned how to author jumps between books in a multi-book title. To review briefly, a multi-book title is a Viewer title that consists of multiple .MVB files sharing a single full-text search index (.IND file). In Viewer terminology, each .MVB file is a separate book, and all of the books plus the .IND file they share make up the title. Because the books share a single index file, readers can use full-text searching to look in any book in the title for text. Users can also jump from one book to another just as they can within a single book.

In this section, you'll learn how to build a multi-book title and how full-text searching works in such a title.
