Run QuicKeys by double-clicking its icon in the Viewer Author Toolkit group or running it from the Windows Program Manager.
The QuicKeys dialog box appears:
·To set up a QuicKeys combination:
1.Specify a book to search.
2.Select a keystroke sequence to activate the search.
3.Specify the type of search to use.
4.Save the QuicKeys combination.
The following sections describe each step in more detail.
You must first specify which book you want to search for a given QuicKeys combination.
·To specify a book:
Select the book's name in the “Select a book, then choose a key combination” box, then choose a key combination.
In the preceding illustration, the name “USA Tour” is selected.
Once you select a book, the QuicKey and Look Up Using options become active. You use these options to select a keystroke combination to activate the search.
The keystroke that starts the search for the book can consist of one or of the following parts:
An optional combination of the SHIFT, ALT, and CTRL keys.
A second key. If you didn't select a key combination in part 1, you press the second key to activate the search. If you selected a key combination in part 1, you press the second key while holding down the key combination.
If you did not select a key combination in part 1, or if the combination you selected was only the SHIFT key, this second key must be one of the function keys (F1 through F12) on your keyboard.
·To specify the combination in part 1:
Select any combination of the CTRL, SHIFT, and ALT check-box options.
You can also leave all three check boxes blank.
·To specify the second key in part 2:
Press any key except one of the following keys: any arrow key, BACKSPACE, CAPS LOCK, DEL, END, ENTER, HOME, INS, PAUSE, PAGE DOWN, PAGE UP, PRT SC, SCROLL LOC, or any other key on the numeric keypad.
Or select a key name from the Key list. The keyname appears in the Key box.
·To specify the type of search the QuicKeys combination will perform:
1.Select one of the option buttons in the Look Up Using area.
2.Select Index Facility to search using index keywords or Search Facility to search using full-text search.
·To store the QuicKeys combination for a given book:
Choose the Add button
The QuicKeys combination appears next to the book name in the
“Select a book” box.
