Other MDK Manuals

The MDK also contains the following manuals, which you'll find useful as you develop Viewer titles:

The Getting Started manual is intended for both multimedia application programmers and multimedia authors. It describes the MDK and other software required to develop multimedia applications and explains how to install the MDK software.

The Data Preparation Tools User's Guide describes the data-preparation tools provided with the MDK. These tools allow authors to edit media elements, such as bitmaps and waveforms, and to convert data files.

The Multimedia Authoring Guide describes the authoring process for multimedia titles. It describes how to acquire and prepare data for multimedia titles.

The Programmer's Workbook shows Windows programmers how to write programs using the application programming interface (API) for Windows with Multimedia.

The Programmer's Reference provides a definitive summary of the application programming interface (API) for the extensions. It describes the functions, messages, data structures, file formats, and commands within the extensions.

Note:

The Setup program that installs the MDK can also be used to install an easy-to-use, online version of the Programmer's Reference.
