1.2.3 Dialog Boxes

A dialog box is a temporary window the application displays so that the user can supply more information for a command. A dialog box contains one or more controls. A control is a small window that has a very simple input or output function. For example, an edit control is a simple window in which the user can type and edit text. The controls in a dialog box help the user supply filenames, choose options, and otherwise direct the action of the command.
