If a thread or process is hung, the system not provide a user interface for that application. The system will however, erase and frame a hung window in a “not responding color”. That may be a new color for the window frame or simply a “disabled” look (halftoned). This is a visual aid to the user that the application is not responding. Additionally, the mouse cursor will change to some shape indicating that the application is not rensposive. Additional user interface hints may be employed, such as informing the user when he or she is clicking on an unresponsive application (to be determined). Hung applications cannot be sized or moved, and the system menu is inaccessible. Closing a hung application can be achieved by going to the task manager and clicking the “Close” button for that particular application.
