This section discusses using Microsoft® CryptoAPI functions to manage certificates. Two main categories of functions are available to manage certificates: those that manage certificate stores, and those that assist using certificates with messages. The functions that manage certificate stores include functions for working with logical or virtual stores, remote stores, external stores, and relocatable stores. These advanced concepts are discussed at the end of the section.
