Rule tables are associated with folders located in the server’s private information store (mailbox) and the public information store. For each incoming message, the conditions in the rule table are tested in sequence against the message. Any conditions that are TRUE trigger the associated action.
In private information store folders, only incoming messages are tested. In public information store folders, messages sent to the folder as well as those posted in the folder are tested.
