The standard database access features provided by the Microsoft® Windows® installer enable the user to customize the installation process to his own requirements. Many customizations require similar kinds of database access, the most common being the retrieval of information from the database, changing or adding information, and finally saving the changes. The following are lists of standard database access features that retrieve, change, and save information in the installation database. These features are implemented using procedures described in the Accessing Databases section.
