The get_P3 method retrieves the third parameter (P3) byte from the APDU. This read-only byte value represents the size of the data portion of the APDU.

The possible return values are the following:

| S_OK | Operation completed successfully. |
| E_INVALIDARG | pbyP3 is invalid. |
| E_POINTER | A bad pointer was passed in pbyP3. |
| E_OUTOFMEMORY | Out of memory. |
The P3 parameter is read only, and therefore cannot be set.
To get the P1 or P2 parameters, call get_P1 and get_P2 respectively.

In addition to the COM error codes listed above, this interface may return a smart card error code if a smart card function was called to complete the request. For information on smart card error codes, see Error Codes.
