ISCardManage::AttachByHandle

The AttachByHandle method creates a communication link to a smart card (ICC) using a handle returned by the smart card resource manager.

Parameters

hICC [in]
Handle to a smart card.

Return Values

The possible return values are the following:

Value Meaning
S_OK Operation completed successfully.
E_INVALIDARG hICC is invalid.
E_OUTOFMEMORY Out of memory.

Remarks

To attach a reader call AttachByIFD.

To release an attachment call Detach.

To reconnect with the smart card without calling Detach and AttachByHandle, call Reconnect.

In addition to the COM error codes listed above, this interface may return a smart card error code if a smart card function was called to complete the request. For information on smart card error codes, see Smart Card Error Codes.
