For Windows NT-, Windows 95, and Windows-based clients, the SQL Server client software includes the SQL Client Configuration Utility. This utility displays the DB-Library version currently installed on the system, sets the default Net-Library, and sets up server connection information on the client.
A client configuration utility is not provided for MS-DOS - based clients because MS-DOS - based clients use a terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) program, and only one Net-Library TSR can be loaded at a time.
For Windows NT- or Windows-based clients, ODBC client applications use the standard ODBC configuration application in the Control Panel to configure SQL Server data sources. ODBC client applications use the same default Net-Library and Advanced client options as does DB-Library, unless these settings are overridden during data source setup.
