Upgrading from SQL Server for OS/2

You can upgrade a Microsoft SQL Server 4.2 for OS/2 server to Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 by first upgrading the operating system to Windows NT Server and then running the SQL Server setup program to upgrade the SQL Server files.

    To upgrade a Microsoft SQL Server for OS/2 system to SQL Server 6.0
  1. Back up all your databases (including the master database).
  2. Upgrade the operating system.

    If you will be installing SQL Server 6.0, upgrade from OS/2 to Windows NT Server version 3.5 or later. Version 3.51 is recommended. If you will be installing SQL Workstation 6.0, upgrade to Windows NT Workstation version 3.5 or later. Version 3.51 is recommended.

  3. From the i386 directory containing the software compatible with the Intel processor architecture, run the SQL Server 6.0 setup program and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. When the Options dialog box appears, select the Upgrade SQL Server option, and then choose the Continue button.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions. You can choose the Help button or press f1 to access the setup program's online Help.
