Starting SQL Server Using SQL Enterprise Manager

    To start SQL Server using SQL Enterprise Manager
  1. From the Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 program group, start SQL Enterprise Manager.
  2. From SQL Enterprise Manager's Server Manager window, open a server group and select a server.
  3. From the toolbar, choose the Services button (the stoplight).

    The SQL Service Manager window appears.

  4. From the Services window of SQL Server Manager, choose the green Start/Continue light.

    Status text in the SQL Server Manager dialog box informs you when SQL Server has started.

You can also stop, pause and continue SQL Server by using the same procedure used to start the service. To stop the service, select the red light, to pause the service, select the yellow light, to continue a paused service, select the green light.

You can also start the server using a drop-down menu available from the Server Manager window.

    To start SQL Server using Server Manager's drop-down menu
  1. From the Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 program group, start SQL Enterprise Manager.
  2. From SQL Enterprise Manager's Server Manager window, open a server group and select a server.
  3. Using the right mouse button, click the server name. Then, from the drop-down menu that appears, choose Start.

    The server starts.

You can also stop, pause, and continue SQL Server by using the drop-down menu.
