Component Installation

Instructions

If you are reading this documentation from the Internet Client SDK Web site, the links below will not work. You need to download Microsoft Agent before you can install Microsoft Agent components. Go to the Component Library section of the Internet Client SDK download page to download Microsoft Agent.

If you have already installed Microsoft Agent from the Internet Client SDK CD or download site, and are reading this page from your local disk, simply click on any link below to install the corresponding component. When prompted, choose Run this program or Open it.

System requirements

  1. Windows 95 or Windows NT® 4.00(x86)
  2. Internet Explorer version 3.0 or later
  3. A Pentium 100 MHz PC (or faster)
  4. At least 16MB of RAM
  5. At least 661K free disk space for the core components, plus at least 1.26 MB if you plan to use speech output, and an additional 6.68 MB if you plan to use speech input
  6. A Windows-compatible sound card
  7. A compatible set of speakers and microphone (recommended)
Agent Essentials

• Microsoft Agent Core Components (version 1.5)
Includes the control, data provider, server, and other essential files for Microsoft Agent.

Speech Engines

• Lernout & Hauspie® TruVoice Text-To-Speech Engine (version 1.5)
The TruVoice Engine provides speech output capabilities for Microsoft Agent and the Agent Character Editor.

• Microsoft Command and Control Speech Engine (version 3.0)
The Command and Control Engine provides speech input capabilities for Microsoft Agent. Visit the Microsoft Speech Research Group Web site for more information on this speech recognition engine.

Character and Sound Editors

• Microsoft Agent Character Editor (version 1.5)
The Agent Character Editor lets you compose your own characters for use with Microsoft Agent.

• Microsoft Agent Linguistic Information Sound Editing Tool (version 1.5)
The Linguistic Information Sound Editing Tool enables you to generate phoneme and word-break information for enhancing sound (.WAV) files to support high-quality lip-synching character animation.
