An ActiveX™ component that retrieves and processes the data. Business objects are usually on the middle tier.

Remote Data Service provides a default middle-tier business object, RDSServer.DataFactory, that receives client requests and provides read and write access to specified data sources, but that does not contain any validation or business rules logic.

You can create custom business objects that can provide the same functionality as RDSServer.DataFactory, as well as encapsulate your application's business rules.
