An instance of the __EventFilter system class that describes an event type and the conditions under which a notification is delivered. A component of the permanent consumer architecture. event provider

A COM-based object that generates notifications after receiving an event from an event source. The event source can be a hardware component such as a disk drive or a software component such as a database. Event providers expose a class identifier (CLSID) and support one required interface and one optional interface. All event providers must support the IWbemEventProvider interface. The optional interface is IWbemEventProviderQuerySink. Also see Event Providers.

A query created by WBEM Query Language (WQL), specified by a consumer when it registers to receive event notifications. The query defines the type of event and the conditions under which it is delivered. Also see Event Queries.
