The Event Viewer screen looks like this:
Note You must install CIMOM and create a database of classes on the target machine before you use the Event Viewer. One of the methods for creating a database of classes is to compile a MOF file in the directory where the SDK was installed (typically c:\Wbem). To compile the MOF file, type the following command: mofcomp <filename.mof>. For more information, see MOF Compiler.
The examples in the following topics use the Cimwin32.mof file provided in the SDK. This MOF file compiles into a database of Win32® schema classes that you can view in the Event Viewer.
The Event Viewer includes the following buttons:
Register for events button starts WBEM Event Registration Viewer. | |
View properties button allows you to view the property page of any event shown in the window. | |
Clear Viewer button clears the display. |
The Event Viewer includes the following columns of event information:
Column | Event Information |
---|---|
P | Event priority, set for the consumer instance in the event registration control. |
Time | When the consumer received the event. The time is attached by the consumer, and controlled through the event registration control. |
Event Class | The standard property of the event. |
Server | The server where the event occurred. |
Description | A message unique for each consumer instance, set by the event registration control. |
