There are five different mechanisms available to provide fault tolerance: UPS services, tape backup, disk mirroring, disk duplexing, and striping with parity. In addition to the disk mechanisms for fault tolerance, there are two additional disk organizations available to Windows NT, volume sets and striped without parity sets. All of these mechanisms are discussed in this section.
