DB-Library is the database specific API to which applications send calls for access to the SQL Server. Many applications and development tools support DB-Lib calls. While there has been much debate on this issue, actual testing has shown that in an average mix of calls, DB-Lib applications and ODBC applications provide the same performance overall.
