Default Network Components

Windows NT Workstation installs the following network software components by default:

• NetBIOS Interface — Microsoft NetBIOS Transport Interface.

• NWLink IPX/SPX Compatible Transport.

• Workstation — Microsoft Windows Workstation Service.

• Server — Microsoft Windows Server Service.

• Computer Browser — Microsoft Network Browser Service.

• Driver for the specific network adapter card.

• RPC Name Service Provider.

Windows NT Server installs NetBEUI Protocol in addition to the components installed by default on a Windows NT Workstation.

After you install software for additional network services, such as TCP/IP or DLC and choose the OK button to close the Network Settings dialog box, you may, depending on the driver, be prompted to configure the component.
