Security touches nearly every aspect of Windows NT, and printing is no exception. Security usually comes into play when an administrator uses the Security menu in Print Manager to assign permissions to users and groups. However, security issues can also be important if an administrator assigns permissions to the spool file directory, or to sections of the Registry that affect printing. Finally, security can be an issue when a print server accepts jobs from Macintosh clients, or when a Windows NT print server attempts to forward print jobs to other print servers. Each of these topics is discussed in the following sections.
