You must install the TCP/IP network protocol to use the Internet.
You must install and configure RAS unless you purchase leased-line services from your Internet service provider to create Internet servers or provide Internet gateway. If you create an Internet server, have a high volume of traffic, or multiple subnets, you will most likely use a leased line and a dedicated router. If you are using Windows NT as an Internet client only, a modem and dial-in PPP or SLIP line is all that is needed.
You install TCP/IP and RAS using the Network option in Control Panel or during installation of Windows NT. See your Windows NT Installation Guide for detailed installation information or see the following table:
