The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access versions 2.0, 7.0

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you attempt to view an OLE object in Microsoft Access on a computer using a Genoa 7900 video card with the Genoa 800x600x16 video driver, you receive a general protection (GP) fault.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a problem with the video driver. The GP fault occurs when you use the Genoa 800x600x16 video driver to view OLE 2.0 bitmaps.

Note that this problem affects all OLE 2.0 application programs that use OLE 2.0 for caching and drawing (such as Microsoft Access). This problem does not affect Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for Windows, as these programs do their own drawing.

RESOLUTION

Contact Genoa Systems Corporation at (408) 432-9090 for information about video driver upgrades.
