ACC2: Starting MS Access 2.0 Help File Returns Error Message

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you try to start the Microsoft Access version 2.0 Help file, MSACC20.HLP, you may receive the following error message:

   Cannot Find MSACC20.HLP - Add/Install Help

CAUSE

There is an invalid reference to the MSACC20.HLP file in the WINHELP.INI file in your Windows directory.

RESOLUTION

  1. Make a backup copy of the WINHELP.INI file by copying the file to another name (such as WINHELP.BAK).

  2. Open the WINHELP.INI file in any text editor (such as Windows Notepad) and remove any line that references the MSACC20.HLP file.

  3. Save and then close the WINHELP.INI file.

  4. Verify that the MSACC20.HLP file is in your Access directory.
