The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSAdvanced: Requires expert coding, interoperability, and multiuser skills. If you create a replica database with the same name and location as the Design Master database, you may receive an alert message, such as the following:
The file 'c:\msoffice\access\sample\northwind.mdb' already exists. Replace existing file? This is followed by the message:
Microsoft Access can't make a new replica at 'c:\msoffice\access\sample\northwind.mdb1' because the source has the same path and filename. The first message is misleading because a replica cannot have the same name and path as the Design Master database. However, the second message summarizes the problem correctly.
RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, type a unique name for the replica database when you create it or select a path different from the location of the Design Master database.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 7.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
